Vimto Wine

The wine making is going well; we've just bottled some white grape juice wine made using cheap Tesco grape juice which has turned out at a mighty 13% abv and have started off two more gallons today. One is a Chardonnay kit from Wilkinsons that we've used before and which gave excellent results and the other is more of an experiment - say hello to Vimto wine. I saw a recipe for Ribena wine here and fancied trying something similar so I've substituted Vimto for Ribena. Apparantly it makes a strong wine and is a bit like sherry. The yeast has frothed up and started bubbling already and I only put it in an hour ago. If you fancy joining me in experimental Vimto wine here's the recipe: 600ml Vimto cordial (use the regular one, not sugar free) 1kg caster sugar 1 sachet of wine yeast 1 tsp yeast nutrient Water to top up to the neck of a one gallon demi john Mix together the sugar, Vimto and enough water in a large saucepan to make it all less gloopy. Room To Grow Baby Sweater

This is a generously sized sweater knit in stretchy garter stitch, increasing the length of wear on fast growing babies. The arms and neck are wide to help parents with the challenge of wrestling clothing onto a wriggling baby. It’s easy to knit, simple and practical and the garter stitch also makes it rather cuddly. I'm a massive fan of 'Jane Eyre' and I've been reading and rereading it for about 25 years, getting something different from the novel every time. As I live an hour away by public transport from Haworth where the Bronte's lived I decided to make a pilgrimage last week. I've been to Haworth lots of times before but always as the lone Bronte fan with disinterested friends, so this time I wanted to go to the Bronte Parsonage Museum and have a good look around. I arrived on a wet Monday morning when most things were closed and got a rare glimpse of the village without crowds of visitors. I decided to have an early lunch so bought a 'Fat Tyke' from a bakery, which is a 'Fat Rascal' but Betty's Tea Room have claimed that name for their own and are funny about other bakeries using it - never mind that the fruity, spicy bun existed long before Betty's.
