A handful of stitches saves a handful of cash

I scored some stripy woollen armwarmers with mitten flip-tops in a charity shop yesterday.  I paid 50p for them but they had issues; hole near the base of one thumb, thumb worn through, button and button loop missing:

One visit to my button box and embroidery thread box (to make the loop) and 15 minutes later and they were fixed:

These feel like they were originally expensive and the fabric was otherwise in excellent condition but set me back only 50p.  Do yourself a favour and learn to sew on buttons and sew up holes!  So easy to do but it can save you a packet on replacing clothes and accessories.
